Garda Vetting & Safeguarding
This walkthrough guide will assist coaches and volunteers complete their FAI Garda Vetting and Safeguarding requirements. If you have any questions or problems, get help from one of our club administrators.
STEP 1: Prepare your documents
Garda Vetting ID Validation Form
Download our partially filled Garda Vetting ID Validation Form, print, fill and then re-scan (or take good photo of the completed form).
YOU ALSO NEED:
Proof of Address (within 6 months)
Download or scan a recent utility bill with your name and address on it (mobile phone bill etc)
Scan of Drivers License or Passport
You will need a digital copy of an ID for Step 2.
STEP 2: Upload Garda Vetting ID Validation Form to FAI MyComet
Login to the FAI MyComet dashboard with your username and password
Once you are successfully signed in, browse to Events area and then find the Event named: "Garda Vetting applications Munster 2024- Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford"
You need to apply to this Event.
Proceed with your application, answer all questions and upload the documents that you prepared in Step 1.
If you have done that correctly, you are finished with this part of your Garda Vetting application. In the next day(s), an email will be sent to you from An Garda Síochána National Vetting Bureau requesting you to complete an online Garda Vetting Application.
YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE GARDA VETTING APPLICATION.
Once that has been done, you will receive regular email updates as you application is being processed. Finally upon approval of Garda Vetting, and you can proceed with the next step of your coaching requirements: Safeguarding 1.
NEXT: Safeguarding I
Now that you are Garda Vetted, you can go ahead and apply for a Safeguarding 1 course.
Safeguarding courses are done online using Microsoft Teams. There are new safeguarding courses added regularly, so check back if there isn't a suitable date available initally.
STEP 1: Browse FAI MyComet for a Safeguarding I course
Login to the FAI MyComet dashboard with your username and password.
STEP 2: Find a suitable Safeguarding I course
Once you are successfully signed in, browse to Events area and then find Events with name: "Safeguarding 1 - Online MS Teams"
There should be a few dates to choose from. Some dates might already be full. If there is a suitable date that has available seats, select that course and then apply for it.
In the next 24 hours you will receive Email notification of either confirmation/acceptance or cancellation. If our application was cancelled, you will have to go back into the FAI MyComet system and find another course, using the same process outlined above.
